Report: Falcons to name Dan Quinn head coach Tuesday

After weeks of speculation, the Atlanta Falcons appear set to name Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn their new head coach.

The Falcons plan to make their hiring of Quinn official Tuesday, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport adds that the two sides have agreed in principle to a five-year deal and that Kyle Shanahan will join Quinn as Atlanta's offensive coordinator.

Quinn spoke after the Seahawks' 28-24 loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX, but chose not to address the rumors of his departure.

"In respect to this game, what a terrific game we were all a part of. So for tonight I'd like to make the focus all about our players, both teams," Quinn said.

"It was a great contest. You could see how hard guys played. As a coach, that's really what you're looking for, great effort first... You see the guys in the locker room, they gave everything they had. You can't ask for more than that as a coach."

Quinn first interviewed with the Falcons a month ago, but cannot officially be offered the job until the Seahawks' season comes to an end.

Quinn will be joined by several familiar faces in Atlanta, including Richard Smith and Raheem Morris, who have reportedly signed on to become the Falcons' defensive coordinator and assistant head coach/defensive backs coach, respectively. Quinn served as Smith's defensive line coach with the Miami Dolphins and coached Morris at Hofstra.
