Mark Wahlberg: I'm going to recruit Larry Fitzgerald to Patriots
Mark Wahlberg, who's never been shy about his New England Patriots fandom, has announced he'll take team recruiting into his own hands.
After his round Wednesday at the Annexus Pro-Am at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, the former Marky Mark said he'll try to recruit Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald to the Pats when they play a round of golf next week.
"I'm playing with him next week," said Wahlberg, via AZ Central. "We played last year in the AT&T (Pebble Beach Pro-Am), so I’m playing with him again this year. I apologize to the people of Arizona, but him for the Patriots for one year. Go get a ring and retire a champion."
Wahlberg's plan doesn't have him going at Fitzgerald alone, as Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will be at the same tournament after the Super Bowl, which the actor expects to end in his favor.
"When (the Patriots) win the Super Bowl, Belichick will be playing at the AT&T, so we'll recruit (Fitzgerald)," said Wahlberg. "Then Mr. Kraft will give him his big check and go get that ring, go out in style."
Likely to Wahlberg's dismay, Fitzgerald said later Wednesday he plans to return to the Cardinals for the 2017 season, the final year of his contract .
