Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott: Benched Sunday after fumbling issues

Elliott ran 21 times for 83 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Redskins. He also caught both of his targets for an additional four yards and lost a fumble.

Analysis:

Elliott appeared to be picking up steam in the second half, ripping off a 21-yard run at one point, but he lost a crucial fumble in his own end that led to Redskins points. He was benched in favor of Alfred Morris after putting another ball on the ground, despite the fact that the Cowboys recovered it. Morris went on to help salt the game away with a late touchdown, and although Elliott should once again be the featured back in Week 3 against the Bears, the former could be in line for a larger share of the backfield touches after Sunday's developments.
