David Ortiz transcends New England sports.
With the Patriots set to take on the Miami Dolphins in their home opener Sunday, Big Papi paid a visit to Gillette Stadium to take in the festivities of Week 2 of the 2016 NFL season. His visit wasn't without meaning, however, as the Patriots also scheduled a pregame ceremony to honor the Boston Red Sox departing slugger.

Not surprisingly, Ortiz received a standing ovation from the capacity crowd in Foxborough, Mass.
