New York Jets rookie linebacker Darron Lee will require the services of a manager he can trust, and his mom seems like as good a choice as any.

Candice Lee is quitting her job as a reporter and weekend news anchor for NBC affiliate WCMH-TV in Columbus, Ohio to take on her son's career.

"I want to be there for many of his games and working weekends would not be conducive to traveling to see him play," Candice told Ken Gordon of the Columbus Dispatch. "Plus, it was time. I have been in the business for 19 years."

Lee, the 20th-overall pick in April's draft and one of the few unsigned rookies in this year's class, calls her his "mom-ager" and she will be tasked with keeping his off-field affairs in order, including endorsements.

It's interesting to note Lee's mom is travelling an opposite path to fellow Ohio State product and New York Giants draft pick Eli Apple's mom (Annie), who will begin her television career this fall as an on-air contributor on ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown."
