Buffalo Bills cornerback Stephon Gilmore isn't planning to attend voluntary team workouts this week while he negotiates a long-term contract extension, reports Tyler Dunne of the Buffalo News, citing a source.

The workouts are voluntary so Gilmore could still report to training camp if a contract isn't reached. Bills general manager Doug Whaley said the team was working on extensions for Gilmore, as well as Cordy Glenn and Tyrod Taylor, in early May with Glenn signing his extension soon after.

Gilmore is entering the final year of his rookie deal and would like to stay in Buffalo, but he's willing to hit the open market if the Bills and his representatives can't find the right price.

"I love Buffalo," Gilmore said. "They gave me my first opportunity to play in the National Football League. I think we have a lot of great talent, a lot of guys in the locker room that I love like my little brothers. But right now, it’s a business. It’s not personal. You believe in yourself and see if you can meet."

The 25-year-old has nine interceptions, 50 pass deflections, four forced fumbles, and 178 tackles in 53 career games through four seasons after being selected 10th overall in 2012.
