Montreal has clearly never forgotten Pedro Martinez after giving the hurler a standing ovation prior to Friday's exhibition game between the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays.

Martinez threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the contest between the two clubs.

The charismatic Hall of Famer spent four memorable seasons with the Expos from 1994-97, capturing the hearts of Montrealers with his feisty demeanor on the mound.

"It says a lot about the legacy and the passion, and the things we were accustomed to seeing," Martinez told reporters after throwing out the pitch. "The reaction out there tonight, we lived it every single time we took the field. To see that the people still remember and care, and love us the same way, it's a huge sign of love and admiration from both sides - from us to them and from them to us."

Montreal's admiration of Martinez has been publicly reciprocated by the three-time Cy Young Winner, too. After winning the 2004 World Series with Boston - the last year of the Expos' existence - Martinez dedicated the victory to the fans in Montreal who would be without a team once the Expos moved to Washington following that season.

Former Expo Tim Raines was also honored by the defunct franchise.
