Dynamic Duos - Couture and Nieto Can Turn Shots into Goals Against Oilers

Bob Stanton / USA Today

Here are the top linemate plays for Tuesday, March 8:

C Logan Couture and LW Matthew Nieto, Sharks (at Oilers)

The Sharks are tied for the fifth-best goal differential over the past two weeks, outscoring their opponents 16-9 at 5v5 in seven games. They've done so with the help of a 51.8% Corsi For Percentage at full strength. They'll take on an Oilers team which has outscored opponents 14-12 in their past eight games, but they've posted a CF% of just 49.6%.

Couture hasn't recorded a point in his past two games, but he's registered seven shots on goal. He's taken at least three SOG in three of his past four games. Nieto comes with significantly less upside than Couture, but he offers cap relief. He registered two SOG in his most recent outing, and he'll be able to benefit from time with Couture in a favorable matchup.

C Sidney Crosby and LW Scott Wilson, Penguins (at Islanders)

Crosby has points in five consecutive games, including three multi-point games. He has a two-goal and a two-assist game in his past two outings. He recorded a total of nine SOG in those games. He's still just second most expensive center option on most DFS sites - behind Dallas Stars C Tyler Seguin - despite this production.

Wilson was recently moved to the Penguins' top line, beside Crosby and RW Patric Hornqvist. His salary offers the cap relief necessary to fit Crosby into cash or GPP lineups. He also offers the differentiation from the Crosby-Hornqvist stack which has been extremely popular of late. Wilson scored last time out, registering two SOG - far more than he needs to return value.

RW Gustav Nyquist and LW Tomas Tatar, Red Wings (at Blue Jackets)

The Red Wings have been outscored 8-10 at 5v5 through their past five games, but they've posted a CF% of 52.0%, which is good for eighth in the league in that time. The Blue Jackets' CF% is just 44.5% in their past six games, the fourth-worst percentage in the league.

The stack is significantly cheaper and will be far less owned than the higher-upside option of Cs Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, Nyquist has two goals and two assists in his past four games, registering two SOG in three of the four. Tatar had points in the first three of those games. He was held off the score sheet but tallied three SOG in his most recent game.
