Wednesday's Center Value Rankings
Here are theScore's center value rankings for Wednesday, February 17:
Top Options
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Carl Soderberg (COL) | vs. MTL | 10 |
Nathan MacKinnon (COL) | vs. MTL | 9 |
Matt Duchene (COL) | vs. MTL | 8 |
No one should have faith in the Canadiens' ability to keep the puck out of the net. Soderberg will come at the biggest discount and continues to center a line with Gabriel Landeskog and Blake Comeau while also finding time with the man advantage. The Habs have allowed 12 goals in two games against Buffalo and Arizona. The top scorers in Colorado should be fine.
Best of the Rest
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Tomas Plekanec (MTL) | at COL | 7 |
Erik Haula (MIN) | at CGY | 7 |
Sean Monahan (CGY) | vs. MIN | 6 |
Charlie Coyle (MIN) | at CGY | 6 |
Derek Stepan (NYR) | vs. CHI | 5 |
Derick Brassard (NYR) | vs. CHI | 5 |
Jonathan Toews (CHI) | at NYR | 5 |
Mikko Koivu (MIN) | at CGY | 5 |
While the Avalanche could easily light up Ben Scrivens, the Canadiens might not struggle to light the lamp against Semyon Varlamov, either. Haula is the best option in Minnesota by virtue of a low salary and the fact that the Calgary Flames can't stop anyone - they've allowed 15 goals in the last three games.
Brassard and Stepan have been strong in recent weeks with 11 and eight points, respectively, over the Rangers' last 10 games. Chicago is a tough customer, but Corey Crawford is much worse away from home. Still, his .912 road save percentage is not a disaster.
Nothing to See Here
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Artem Anisimov (CHI) | at NYR | 4 |
J.T. Miller (NYR) | vs. CHI | 4 |
Alex Galchenyuk (MTL) | at COL | 3 |
Sam Bennett (CGY) | vs. MIN | 2 |
Anisimov is a victim of facing Lundqvist, who just doesn't lose at home. Galchenyuk is too volatile and inconsistent to trust, even in a soft matchup.
