MLB asks USADA to help investigate Al Jazeera claims

Major League Baseball has reached out to the United States Anti-Doping Agency for support in their investigation into the Al Jazeera report that alleged players Ryan Howard, Ryan Zimmerman, and Taylor Teagarden were supplied with performance-enhancing drugs.

"We've had discussions with USADA and are hopeful that together we can make progress in this investigation," MLB's chief legal officer Dan Halem told T.J. Quinn of ESPN.

Halem will reportedly meet with USADA CEO Travis Tygart Tuesday at MLB's headquarters in Manhattan to discuss the matter.

An undercover report from Al Jazeera titled "The Dark Side" aired in late December, implicating the three players.

The source of the implications, Charlie Sly, was secretly recorded saying he provided the three individuals, along with the wife of NFL quarterback Peyton Manning, with PEDs.

Teagarden was prominently featured in the documentary after admitting he received banned substances from Sly.

Sly later released a statement saying he fabricated the information, and Howard and Zimmerman have since filed defamation lawsuits against Al Jazeera America, who recently filed for bankruptcy.
