Everton's lengthy pursuit of Ukrainian winger-cum-forward Andriy Yarmolenko could finally be concluded in January.

The Dynamo Kyiv man has been on the Toffees' radar for some time, but the club has been handed fresh hope of thrashing out a deal after the player's representatives attended the visit of Manchester City on Merseyside last Wednesday, according to the Liverpool Echo's Phil Kirkbride.

Everton failed in its attempts to bring Yarmolenko last summer and was expected to renew its efforts at the end of the season, but now there is potential for a transfer before the current window closes.

Dynamo president Ihor Surkis has gained a reputation for being a tough negotiator, but it is believed a bid in excess of £20 million should be enough to acquire Yarmolenko's services.

Everton faces Manchester City again on Wednesday, and will be able to recall Romelu Lukaku back into the fray after he missed the FA Cup meeting with Dagenham & Redbridge last Saturday.
