Everton's Lukaku returns from ankle injury ahead of Manchester City clash

Romelu Lukaku has overcome an ankle knock in time for Everton's meeting with Manchester City on Wednesday.

Manager Robert Martinez confirmed the positive news, saying Lukaku, who injured his ankle against City during Everton's League Cup win on Jan. 6, was cleared to play after getting through Monday's training session without any problems.

"Romelu trained well yesterday," Martinez told reporters. "He is available, his ankle feels well and he is clear to play tomorrow. It's great news."

Lukaku should be ready to suit up for Wednesday's fixture considering Martinez's initial assessment that the injury was not serious. He was only forced to miss Everton's FA Cup match against Dagenham & Redbridge.

The 22-year-old will look to add to his 15 goals in the Premier League, which ties him for the league-lead with Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy.
