Leg injury keeps Curry out against Mavs, MRI shows bruised shin

Stephen Curry did not play Wednesday when the Golden State Warriors visited the Dallas Mavericks.

The news was expected, as Dubs interim coach Luke Walton told reporters earlier in the day that chances were slim Curry would suit up. It marked Curry's first DNP since March 13 of last season, but more concerning for the team is the lower left leg injury, which was causing him to limp after the Warriors' victory over the Sacramento Kings on Monday.

An MRI conducted Wednesday showed a bruised shin but no structural damage.

After missing 66 games during his first three years in the league, Curry has done a good job of staying on the floor since - never missing more than four games in a season from 2012-15. That has coincided with a great deal of luck for the Warriors overall, who have managed to keep most of their key players healthy during their championship campaign last year and through a hot start to this season.

However, the team is now dealing with injuries to Harrison Barnes as well as Curry.

Another aspect to Curry sitting is the fact the Dubs are on the front end of a Texas back-to-back, with the Houston Rockets on tap for a New Year's Eve battle. Curry is listed as questionable for that contest.

Shaun Livingston started at the point in Curry's place.
