The Texas Rangers are diving into the international market to acquire pitching depth, agreeing to a two-year deal with right-hander Tony Barnette.

Barnette's deal includes a club option for 2018.

The 32-year-old spent 2015 with the Yakult Swallows in Japan, earning 41 saves with a 1.29 ERA and 0.89 WHIP.

He was a 10th-round draft choice of the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2006, but never made it to the big leagues and has spent the last six years pitching in Japan.

Texas also signed catcher Bobby Wilson to a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training.

Wilson, 32, appeared in 56 games for the Rangers last season, hitting .189/.255/.250 with one home run and 14 RBIs.
