The Columbus Blue Jackets will be without their starting goaltender for a few weeks.

Sergei Bobrovsky will miss three weeks due to the lower-body injury he suffered in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night.

Bobrovsky left Tuesday's game with about five minutes remaining, and backup netminder Curtis McElhinney allowed Jeff Carter to score the tying goal with 1:27 to go. Kings defenseman Alec Martinez beat him for the overtime winner 27 seconds into the extra frame.

McElhinney will be counted on to shoulder the Blue Jackets' goaltending load for the time being.

"Curtis has been very good, and now he gets his chance again," general manager Jarmo Kekalainen told Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch.

"Now we’re going to have to find other ways to win hockey games. Bobrovsky has been keeping us in games, being the Bob we all know and love."

Head coach John Tortorella echoed the GM's sentiments.

"Curtis has been good. I feel very comfortable," said the head coach.

Bobrovsky was 11-12-1 with a 2.52 GAA and .916 save percentage in 25 games, and the 2013 Vezina Trophy winner had one win in his last five appearances.

McElhinney is 0-4-1 with a 2.77 GAA and .905 save percentage in seven contests this season.

The Blue Jackets recalled 21-year-old goaltender Joonas Korpisalo from the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters on Tuesday.
