John Tortorella calls out captain Foligno after Blue Jackets loss

After his team lost for the fourth time in its last six games Tuesday - to his former team, the Vancouver Canucks, no less - Columbus Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella couldn't hide his frustration.

"You have to win that game," he said, according to Michael Arace of the Columbus Dispatch. "Right now, we found a way to lose that game. That's not a good sign."

After admitting he didn't want to talk about individuals, he eventually mentioned captain Nick Foligno, who missed an open net early in the third with a chance to give the Blue Jackets the lead.

"We need a big play out of him," Tortorella said. "He had a couple of chances to score. We're going to say 'Nick, his game is coming' but to me, he needs to make a big play."

Foligno, who has just one goal and six points through 16 games after a breakout 31-goal, 73-point campaign last year, did concede that his play needs to improve.

"I need to be the guy helping (in scoring). Maybe we win the game if I score there and make it (3-2)," He admitted. "I can't beat myself up though. I'm getting chances. I definitely feel like it's coming."

The Blue Jackets fell to a league-worst 4-12-0, and their new coach knows the team needs to turn things around soon.

"We've got to stop these moral victories and find a way to grind that out," Tortorella said.

They'll have their next chance to return to the win column on Friday when they visit the Pittsburgh Penguins.
