A day after domestic violence charges against Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy were expunged from his criminal record, disturbing photos of the injuries his ex-girlfriend sustained in the 2014 incident emerged Friday.

The photos, which were obtained by Deadspin along with hundreds of pages of police and prosecutorial records, show a number of bruises on Nicole Holder's back, arms, legs, and feet.

Holder told police that Hardy, who was with the Carolina Panthers at the time, had thrown her against the wall of a bathtub, threw her onto a futon covered in assault rifles, and choked her until she told him to "kill me so I don't have to."

Hardy was convicted in July 2014 on charges of misdemeanor assault and communicating threats. He appealed the decision and had both charges dismissed after prosecutors said they were unable to locate Holder to testify.

The NFL initially suspended Hardy for 10 games for conduct detrimental to the league, but reduced it to four on appeal.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones recently praised Hardy, calling him "one of the real leaders on this team" and announcing his desire to sign the defensive end to a long-term deal.

The Cowboys said Friday that they are aware of the Deadspin story and have no comment. It was reported that team wasn't allowed to view the photos prior to their release, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
