Jerry Jones: Cowboys want to sign Greg Hardy to long-term deal

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones continues to stand behind controversial defensive end Greg Hardy.

The team hasn't talked about disciplining Hardy for his sideline outburst in Sunday's loss to the New York Giants, Jones said Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan.

The franchise owner also reiterated what his son, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones, told the station a day earlier: the team wants to sign Hardy to a long-term deal.

Jones raised some eyebrows when he called Hardy "one of the real leaders on this team" after he was involved in a shoving match with special teams coach Rich Bisaccia. Cameras also caught Hardy in a heated exchange with wide receiver Dez Bryant.

Asked about those comments Tuesday, Jones replied, "I don't have a different view than I had Sunday."
