VIDEO: Granderson continues power surge with leadoff HR
The New York Mets were desperate for a shift in momentum following Daniel Murphy's epic blunder in Game 4, and veteran Curtis Granderson has answered the call early in Game 5.
Granderson led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run off Kansas City Royals starter Edinson Volquez to give New York a 1-0 lead.

The outfielder is the first Mets player to hit a leadoff homer in the World Series since Lenny Dykstra went deep in Game 3 of the 1986 Fall Classic.
Granderson's three blasts in the series ties Donn Clendenon's record for most career World Series homers by a Met.
Volquez, who returned to the Royals on Saturday following the death of his father, settled in to retire the next three batters - two via strikeout - to limit the damage in the frame.
