Pistons' Meeks out 3-4 months with fractured foot
The Detroit Pistons might be short on shooting with Jodie Meeks sidelined until at least next February.
Meeks, who sustained the injury in the team's home opener, will miss 12-to-16 weeks after undergoing surgery to correct his non-displaced fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot, the team announced Friday.
The 28-year-old Meeks was expected to provide reliable outside shooting in a bench role after signing a three-year, $19-million contract with the Pistons last summer. However, his shooting percentages underwhelmed in his first year in Detroit as he shot just 34.9 percent from deep with averages of 11.1 points in 24.4 minutes per game.
Fortunately, third-year guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has come on strong while soaking up the majority of minutes at shooting guard. He's averaging 18.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while making 6-of-13 from deep this season.
Reggie Bullock and Steve Blake will likely see more time at shooting guard during Meeks' absence.
