Chelsea fined for 6 yellow cards in West Ham loss

Chelsea's capitulation against West Ham on Saturday was an eventful defeat littered with refereeing decisions, as the visitors dealt with six yellow cards, a red for Nemanja Matic, and the dismissals of manager Jose Mourinho and assistant Silvino Louro.

A Football Association spokesman said Monday the London club will be charged an automatic £25,000 fine for exceeding the six-card threshold, and questioned over why Mourinho skipped the mandatory post-match press conference.

The impulsive Portuguese boss was sent to the stands following Matic's sending off in the 44th minute for a second yellow card, and could possibly face further punishment for not fulfilling his media duties, according to BBC Sport.

This period of uncertainty for Mourinho is marked by the sending off, a one-match suspension earlier in the month, and his newly adopted anti-media stance highlighted by quotes like: "I am going to treat (media) bosses the way they treat me; no respect, no respect."

In addition to Matic's two yellows, Cesar Azpilicueta, Willian, Cesc Fabregas, Jon Obi Mikel, and Diego Costa were all booked at the Boleyn Ground in the club's fifth loss in 10 matches.

The FA awaits a match report from referee Jon Moss before taking further action.
