The Toronto Blue Jays made a buzz at the July trade deadline with their acquisition of shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, and the 31-year-old made some noise of his own Wednesday in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series.

After Kansas City Royals starter Edinson Volquez walked the bases loaded, Tulowitzki hammered a bases-clearing double to the center-field wall off right-hander Kelvin Herrera, who had been lights out for his squad, with 11 strikeouts and a 1.50 ERA in six appearances before coming into the game.

The double gave Toronto a 5-0 lead, putting the Jays in position to keep their season alive. Tulowitzki joined Paul Molitor as the only Blue Jays players with at least 11 RBIs in a single postseason, while setting a franchise record for most RBIs in a single ALCS with seven.

To say that Tulowitzki was excited about the knock would be an understatement.

The humble shortstop tried to deflect praise toward Game 5 starter Marco Estrada - who pitched a gem in the crucial contest - while also trying to stay focused on the upcoming task of winning in Kansas City.

"I think that's a recipe for winning, good pitching and timely hitting. That's what we did today," Tulowitzki said. "Obviously you try to carry this over to Kansas City. It's not going to be easy. They have home-field advantage. Our backs are going to be against the wall.

"But you look at it, you've got to win two games in the grand scheme of things. It's possible. And that's how we're looking at it. Win the next game. Get to Game 7 and anything can happen."
