DFS: Dynamic Duos - Thursday's Top Teammate Plays

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports / USA TODAY Sports

With eight games on the schedule, there are several compelling pairings to consider. Be careful, though, because Henrik Lundqvist is in net for the Rangers, at home against Arizona. You may want to fade the smooth youngsters on the Coyotes' top line because of this.

For choices more likely to return value, we turn to Thursday's top pairings:

C Tyler Seguin & W Jamie Benn, Stars (at Penguins)

Only the Canadiens and Lightning have scored more goals than the Stars, and that is with one more game played apiece. With Seguin and Benn dominating - each has 10 points over the team's first six games - they should be an automatic start every time Dallas hits the ice.

They'll cost you, but they may be the most potent 1-2 punch in the NHL.

W Filip Forsberg & W James Neal, Predators (vs. Ducks)

Even though Neal is scoring at an unsustainable rate (19.2%) based on his career shooting percentage (11.8%), this tandem is easily the most dynamic in the Music City. Flanking center Mike Fisher, these two have done the heavy lifting so far, with both players averaging a point per game.

Neal got off to a poor start, too. All seven of his points have come in the Preds' last three games. This line appears to be clicking, and even though Anaheim features some solid goaltending, this is a pairing worth looking at. It also comes at a significant discount to Benn and Seguin.

C Mikael Granlund & W Zach Parise, Wild (vs. Blue Jackets)

This might be more of a risk than it appears. Parise has been held without a point only once, though his opening night hat trick may have set the bar a tad high. Granlund is a great bargain center on his line, who is bound to be the budget beneficiary of this tandem long term. This pairing can afford you extra pocket change to spend on a top goalie.

Columbus has been awful, but with the hiring of John Tortorella things might be different. This will be the Blue Jackets' first game since Todd Richards was fired. This team isn't nearly as bad as they've looked, so don't expect Minnesota to put up a touchdown or anything obscene. But the matchup remains tantalizing.

C Nicklas Backstrom & W Marcus Johansson, Capitals (at Canucks)

The matchup isn't favorable, but how can anyone bet against Backstrom after his first two games back from injury? Normally more of a playmaker, Backstrom has tallied three goals to go along with his two assists. His return makes the Caps a much more diverse team, especially placing him on the second line with Johansson instead of the top line with Alex Ovechkin.

Johansson is more of a concern. He doesn't have a point in those two games. He's been good for close to 50 points per season, so he'll be productive more than half the time. With Backstrom, his value should rise.

C Kyle Turris & W Mark Stone, Senators (vs. Devils)

Turris seems to get a little better every year. Stone exploded for 64 points in his first full season in 2014-15. Together, they form the lifeblood of the Senators' offense. The best part is they are still incredibly inexpensive in DFS.

This is the best value pairing based on production versus cost. With the Wild and Capitals pairings, you're paying up for the elite player and hoping his cheaper counterpart gets in on the action. Here, both are just as likely to tally points. The Devils are a good matchup for the Senators to exploit, though G Cory Schneider does stand on his head once in a while.
