VIDEO: Best John Tortorella rants as an NHL coach

Jerome Miron / USA TODAY Sports

With the Columbus Blue Jackets hiring John Tortorella as their new head coach, one thing is certainly guaranteed: A future of angry media rants await.

Let's recall some of the moments in the coach's career with the Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers, and Vancouver Canucks, where one could not help but say, "That's so Tortorella," in the most endearing way possible.

Penguin Pain

That really awkward time Tortorella labeled the Pittsburgh Penguins organization "arrogant," and Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin "whiny stars" after the Rangers' 5-2 loss in 2012.

"We sucked from head to toe"

At least he was honest.

"Have you ever fought before?"

Tortorella had very little love, and patience, for New York Post writer Larry Brooks.

Avery aversion

While serving as an analyst, Tortorella made his feelings about then Dallas Stars player Sean Avery known, calling him an "embarrassment."

Avery would later play for the coach on the Rangers, which was probably pretty awkward.

"Don't push me"

The coach got a little testy with the media when talking after a Canucks-Flames game that featured an all out line brawl.

Bonus: Fan Fury

Tortorella was not about to let a Washington Capitals fan get away with trash talk from behind the glass.

Keep being perpetually angry - or spirited - John!
