DFS: Dynamic Duos - Wednesday's Top Teammate Plays

With only four games on Wednesday's NHL slate, there aren't many elite duos in play. Owners will need to get creative and take some risks in order to be successful in GPPs. Favoring home teams and picking on weak defenses will be the key.

Here are the top forward pairings for Wednesday:

C Jack Eichel & W Evander Kane, Sabres (vs. Maple Leafs)

Eichel and Kane have combined for just four points in five games together this season, having gone point-less in each of their last two outings. The tandem have remained consistent shooters, combining for 13 shots on goal in those two games.

They will now be on their biggest stage of the season, taking on the rival Maple Leafs. Toronto has allowed at least three goals in all but their most recent game this season. Eichel and Kane are next in line to feast on G Jonathan Bernier and his .900 save percentage.

Eichel and Kane have played well despite their lack of production. A rivalry matchup against a team with a struggling defense and goaltender should provide the opening they need.

C Henrik Zetterberg & W Dylan Larkin, Red Wings (at Oilers)

At 35 years old, Zetterberg is just one point off the league lead shared by Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin of the Dallas Stars. At 19 years old, Larkin is just three points back of Zetterberg, and he is the Red Wings' second-leading scorer.

Larkin leads the Red Wings with 14 shots on goal in five games played, while Zetterberg has taken just four of his own. Justin Abdelkader is the third member of the Red Wings' top line, and he leads the team with four goals on just nine shots.

Larkin is also centering the top power-play unit, with Zetterberg running the point. Zetterberg hasn't played less than 17:10 yet this season, while Larkin played a seasonhigh 20:21 in just his second game on the first line, where he scored his second goal of the season against Carey Price and the Montreal Canadiens.

C Nathan MacKinnon & W Gabriel Landeskog, Avalanche (vs. Hurricanes)

The most expensive duo of the night will be a slight contrarian play with owners shying away from the hefty price tag. They will have an excellent opportunity to capitalize, as they host a Hurricanes team allowing over three goals per game.

Landeskog has been held without a point in each of his last two games, but his four shots on goal against the Los Angeles Kings were his most the season. MacKinnon is averaging three shots per game, with no fewer than two in any one of his five contests.

The Hurricanes have spent less time on the penalty kill than any other team this season, but their PK unit ranks No. 26 in the league. It should be a helpful matchup for jump starting the struggling Avalanche power play.
