After a gut-wrenching defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Royals on their home turf in Game 4 of the American League Division Series, the Houston Astros were quick to announce their Game 5 starter.

Right-hander Collin McHugh, a 19-game winner in the regular season, will start at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday.

McHugh, 28, started the series opener against the Royals, tossing six innings of four-hit ball, allowing two runs and striking out one.

Kansas City is countering with right-hander Johnny Cueto, who will take the mound on his regular rest.

Cueto hasn't panned out as expected since being acquired from the Cincinnati Reds in July, pitching to a 4-7 record with a 4.76 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 13 starts.

The 29-year-old started Game 2 of the ALDS and tossed six innings of seven-hit ball, allowing four earned runs while walking three and striking out five.
