Rain halted play after two innings at Kauffman Stadium, with the Houston Astros holding a 3-1 lead in Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Kansas City Royals.

Play resumed after a 48-minute delay.

Colby Rasmus, Evan Gattis, and Jose Altuve knocked in runs for the Astros before Kendrys Morales took a solo blast to right field to bring the deficit down to two in the bottom of the second.

Collin McHugh started for the Astros, while Yordano Ventura was on the mound for the Royals. Ventura was replaced after the delay by Chris Young.
