The Toronto Blue Jays tapped into two decades worth of nostalgia Thursday for the city's first playoff game in 22 years.

Prior to Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Texas Rangers, the Blue Jays rallied the sellout crowd at Rogers Centre by deploying former manager Cito Gaston to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Shortly after raising their first AL East banner since 1993, Gaston ushered in the 2015 playoffs with a soft toss to veteran left-hander Mark Buehrle.

Gaston, who led the Blue Jays to consecutive titles in 1992 and 1993, returned to manage the club for parts of three more seasons from 2008 to 2010. He currently serves as a consultant to team president Paul Beeston.
