With Luck ailing, Colts re-sign Josh Johnson

Things could be trending in the wrong direction for Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck's chances of playing Thursday night.

The Colts announced Wednesday they have re-signed quarterback Josh Johnson, whom the team added to back up Matt Hasselbeck in Week 4.

Johnson was released after the game, but his return to the roster could be a sign Luck won't be sufficiently recovered from his shoulder injury to play Thursday.

Then again, it could simply be a move made out of necessity. Hasselbeck is reportedly ill, leaving the Colts undermanned at practice. Johnson can help fill that void.

To make room for Johnson, the Colts placed cornerback Jalil Brown on injured reserve.
