DFS: Week 5 NFC Target Tracker

Kim Klement / Reuters

Here's a team-by-team look at the most targeted players in the NFC through Week 4 (click here for AFC targets):

Arizona Cardinals

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Larry Fitzgerald 9 37 9.25
John Brown 10 27 6.75
David Johnson 10 18 4.5
Darren Fells 1 8 2.66

Despite losing to St. Louis, the Cardinals are a well-rounded team and that is partially reflected in the dispersion of targets. Fitzgerald is a consistent option among the group, while running back Johnson has emerged as a legitimate pass catching back.

Atlanta Falcons

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Julio Jones 26 52 13
Leonard Hankerson 8 29 7.25
Devonta Freeman 6 23 5.75
Roddy White 4 13 3.25

Hankerson has officially passed White on the depth chart after drawing eight Week 4 targets to White's four. The Atlanta pass offense has been among the best in the league for years now and Jones, Hankerson, and quarterback Matt Ryan are all DFS options on a weekly basis.

Carolina Panthers

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Greg Olsen 6 34 8.5
Ted Ginn Jr. 3 25 6.25
Devin Funchess 2 12 3
Jerricho Cotchery 0 (inactive) 7 2.33

Though Carolina put up 37 points against the Bucs, the Panthers' receiving options were not that productive. Cam Newton only completed 11 passes with Olsen receiving six targets on Newton's 22 attempts.

Chicago Bears

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Alshon Jeffery 0 (inactive) 11 11
Martellus Bennett 13 31 7.75
Eddie Royal 10 26 6.5
Matt Forte 4 20 5

The return of QB Jay Cutler led to a Chicago win and a much improved offensive performance from the Bears as a whole. Bennett was the main beneficiary, raking in 13 targets against Oakland. Jeffery should return this week and is a legitimate option in DFS right away.

Dallas Cowboys

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Jason Witten 6 31 7.75
Terrance Williams 10 27 6.75
Lance Dunbar 0 23 5.75
Cole Beasley 6 21 5.25

Another week in Dallas means another injury. This time pass-catching back Dunbar went down and is likely out for the season. Expect Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden to see an increased workload.

Detroit Lions

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Calvin Johnson 11 45 11.25
Golden Tate 4 29 7.25
Eric Ebron 3 23 5.75
Ameer Abdullah 5 15 3.75

Another disappointing performance from the Detroit offense puts them at 0-4. Neither Johnson or Tate have eclipsed 100 yards receiving in a game and neither looked poised to next week, either, as the Lions take on Patrick Peterson and the Cardinals.

Green Bay Packers

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Randall Cobb 8 36 9
James Jones 6 21 5.25
Davante Adams 0 (inactive) 15 5
Richard Rodgers 6 17 4.25

Green Bay's offense continues to roll as Aaron Rodgers does his typically effective job spreading the wealth around. Cobb was a letdown in Week 4 with only 44 receiving yards on eight targets.

Minnesota Vikings

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Mike Wallace 10 24 6
Kyle Rudolph 4 23 5.75
Charles Johnson 0 (inactive) 8 2.66
Jarius Wright 0 10 2.5

Teddy Bridgewater actually had his most passing yards this season (269) against the Broncos in Week 4. However, it is still difficult to roster any Vikings wideouts in DFS as none seem to be explosive or consistent enough for GPP or cash game formats.

New Orleans Saints

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Brandin Cooks 8 31 7.75
Mark Ingram 7 24 6
Marques Colston 5 23 5.75
Brandon Coleman 1 17 4.25

Even with receivers accounted for, Ingram is clearly the best DFS option in New Orleans. Ingram has been a consistent pass catching back through the first four weeks, complementing his solid run game.

New York Giants

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Odell Beckham Jr. 12 41 10.25
Larry Donnell 7 23 5.75
Rueben Randle 6 20 5
Shane Vereen 0 16 4

Beckham Jr. is one of the highest priced DFS wide outs on a weekly basis. However, he has failed to return value on his price tag outside of Week 2. That said, his targets are WR1-quantity; the potential to break out is there.

Philadelphia Eagles

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Jordan Matthews 8 38 9.5
Darren Sproles 3 21 5.25
Zach Ertz 3 20 5
Nelson Agholor 4 16 4

Matthews was a letdown once again in Week 4 and only has 281 receiving yards with one touchdown through the first four weeks. DFS players should avoid Eagles receivers until some consistency is shown.

San Francisco 49ers

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Torrey Smith 5 27 6.75
Anquan Boldin 7 26 6.5
Vernon Davis 0 (inactive) 15 5
Carlos Hyde 1 8 2

The 49ers are in trouble. Colin Kaepernick has 727 passing yards and an awful 2:5 touchdown-to-interception ratio through the first four weeks. DFS players should not even think about rostering a 49ers wideout right now.

Seattle Seahawks

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Doug Baldwin 4 24 6
Jimmy Graham 5 23 5.75
Jermaine Kearse 2 20 5
Marshawn Lynch 0 (inactive) 14 4.66

Luckily, the Seattle offense gets away with doing very little because of their defense. Graham continues to be under-utilized in Seattle, while Baldwin and Kearse are mediocre at best. DFS players should tread carefully here.

St. Louis Rams

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Jared Cook 6 22 5.5
Tavon Austin 7 20 5
Kenny Britt 1 18 4.5
Stedman Bailey 3 12 4

The St. Louis passing offense should likely be avoided on all fronts. Outside of a Week 1 punt return, Austin had had not done anything of note up to his Week 4 performance of 96 yards and two touchdowns. Still, DFS players should look elsewhere for receivers.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Mike Evans 8 28 9.33
Vincent Jackson 15 35 8.75
Austin Seferian-Jenkins 0 (inactive) 10 5
Charles Sims 5 15 3

Jackson was targeted 15 times in Week 4 as Evans was covered by Panthers cornerback Josh Norman. Though Jackson and Evans have the size and build to do big-time damage, Jameis Winston's inaccuracy limits their productivity.

Washington Redskins

NAME WEEK 4 TOTAL AVG
Pierre Garcon 8 35 8.75
Jordan Reed 8 26 6.5
Ryan Grant 7 20 5
Andrew Roberts 0 (inactive) 8 2.66

Garcon and Reed are the two main options in the Redskins offense as Kirk Cousins predominantly works the short passing game. Garcon and Reed are decent cash game plays but do not possess the high ceiling you look for in GPP games.
