Andrew Luck misses 1st NFL start with shoulder injury

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is officially inactive Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a shoulder injury.

Luck's status was brought into question after he was limited in practice throughout the week, and an apparent lack of progress will force him to miss the first start of his NFL career.

While the star quarterback's absence is a crushing blow to a Colts offense already struggling through three games, tests didn't show any structural damage to his shoulder, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

His status will likely be reassessed in the coming days, though with the Colts' Week 5 game scheduled for Thursday, he won't have much time to rehab.

Veteran signal caller Matt Hasselbeck takes over the offense in Luck's place, marking his first NFL start since 2012. Josh Johnson, who joined the team as a free agent earlier this week, immediately becomes the primary backup.
