Ducks' Despres suffers upper-body injury vs. Avalanche

Anaheim Ducks defenseman Simon Despres left Friday's game against the Colorado Avalanche with an upper-body injury and did not return after being ruled doubtful in the third period.

He played only 9:25 before exiting midway through the second period.

The injury may have occurred on a hit by Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie.

Despres signed a five-year, $18.5-million contract extension with the Ducks earlier this month.
