Pep Guardiola wants 'more, more, more' from striker Robert Lewandowski

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola says he wants even more from on-fire forward Robert Lewandowski, challenging the Polish international to keep improving his game as the season gets going.

Lewandowski scored five goals against Wolfsburg last weekend, then added two more in a 3-0 win over Mainz to bring his current tally to 10 goals in six games. And, while Guardiola was particularly impressed with the 27-year-old's goal haul, he's asking for even more input from the striker.

"I am very happy with his last two games," Guardiola told reporters. "But as a coach you always want more, more, more. It doesn't mean that he has to score more goals. I hope that he doesn't think about scoring all of the time.

"He also has to focus on our play, and fight for the long balls," Guardiola continued. "He has to focus on his passes, on our crosses and his chances. But I understand just how important goals are for an attacker."

Lewandowski's focus on goals doesn't come without its own rewards, though: Bayern sit first in the Bundesglia and Lewandowski's 10 goals in six Bundesliga matches is also a new record, one that sees him beat out club legend Gerd Muller as the fastest player to hit the double-digit mark.

"Lewy has scored seven goals in two games, he was our key player in those wins," Guardiola said. "I hope he can continue his fantastic streak against Zagreb. When he tries the best for the team I am happy. And of course, when he scores goals I am even happier."
