FA rescinds Gabriel's 3-match ban for red card; improper conduct charge still pending

Arsenal defender Gabriel has had a three-match red card suspension "withdrawn with immediate effect" by the FA after the club filed a claim for wrongful dismissal.

Gabriel picked up a straight red card against Chelsea on the weekend for his role in an on-field confrontation with Diego Costa.

However, while his red card suspension has been overturned, the Brazilian defender could face further ramifications for a charge of improper conduct, stemming from his reaction to the sending off in Saturday's match. Arsenal has until Thursday to appeal that separate charge.

As it stands, Gabriel is now available for selection for Arsenal's upcoming Capital One Cup tie against Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Wednesday. He is also available for the Gunners' Premier League fixture against Manchester United on Oct. 4.

Gabriel has until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday to respond to the FA's charges for improper conduct.
