TCU's Douglas to miss rest of season with undisclosed injury; McFarland also out
TCU head coach Gary Patterson announced Tuesday that linebacker Sammy Douglas will miss the remainder of the season with an undisclosed injury, and defensive end James McFarland is "close" to missing the rest of the campaign.
Douglas left Saturday's 23-17 win over Minnesota in the first quarter and was seen on the sidelines wearing a brace. He was replaced by redshirt freshman Ty Summers.
McFarland was left off the depth chart for the Frogs season opener after leading the team in sacks last year with seven.
The loss of Douglas hurts TCU's core defense, as he's their most experienced linebacker; every other linebacker is a sophomore or freshman.
TCU dropped to No. 3 in the AP Poll, and their injury plagued defense won't help their playoff hopes. They host Stephen F. Austin in Week 2.
