Report: West Ham looks for a striker, Javier Hernandez, Adebayor top wish list

Despite an impressive 2-0 away win at Arsenal to start the season, West Ham is on the lookout for a new striker.

As Andy Carroll, the £15-million man, continues to take residence in the treatment room and Ecuadorian Enner Valencia is nursing a knee injury and might not feature until the festive period, the club has compiled a list of 12 players to address their forward line, according to James Olley of the Evening Standard. Tottenham's Emmanuel Adebayor, previously reported to have been close to a deal at Aston Villa, and out-of-favour Manchester United player Javier Hernandez are their preferred options.

Tottenham would like to take Adebayor's £100,000-a-week wage off its books, while Hernandez, despite boasting a superior goals-per-minute ratio than the likes of Alan Shearer, Luis Suarez, and Robin van Persie in the Premier League, has failed to impress Louis van Gaal at United.

Hammers' boss Slaven Bilic will have forwards Mauro Zarate, Diafra Sakho, and Modibo Maiga to choose from for West Ham's home tie against Leicester City on Saturday.
