Dodgers designate Morse, Beachy after 3-team trade

Steve Mitchell / USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Dodgers were forced to make a bundle of roster moves after their 13-player, three-team trade with the Atlanta Braves and Miami Marlins.

Utility player Michael Morse, right-handed pitcher Brandon Beachy, outfielder Chris Heisey, and right-hander pitcher Chin-Hui Tsao have all been designated for assignment.

Morse was a part of the three-team trade, so his tenure in Los Angeles was incredibly brief after hitting .214/.277/.314 with the Marlins.

The slugger, who is known for his power, hit just four home runs in 173 plate appearances after signing a $7.5-million deal with Miami in the off-season.

Beachy appeared in just two games for the Dodgers this season, both of which were starts. He allowed seven earned runs in eight innings of work.

Heisey posted a battling line of .154/.353/.192 in 34 plate appearances for Los Angeles this season.

Tsao, made five appearances for the Dodgers in 2015, allowing eight earned runs and 15 hits in seven innings of work for a 10.29 ERA.

In corresponding moves, the Dodgers also added pitchers Luis Avilan, Alex Wood, Jim Johnson, and Mat Latos to the roster, while placing Bronson Arroyo on the 60-day disabled list and optioned infielder Jose Peraza to Triple-A Oklahoma.

The team also transferred pitcher Chris Hatcher to the 60-day DL.
