Cowboys won't negotiate new contract with Jeremy Mincey until he reports to training camp

If Dallas Cowboys defensive end Jeremy Mincey wants a new deal, holding out during training camp isn't going to get it done.

"We certainly won’t be talking to him about it while he’s not here," Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones told ESPN's Todd Archer on Wednesday.

It was reported Tuesday that Mincey, who led Dallas with six sacks in 2014, would not attend camp without a new deal. He is scheduled to make $1.5 million this season and could be fined $30,000 for every day he misses.

"We expect all players under contract to be here," Jones said. "Jeremy obviously did a great job for us last year. He was a big part of our success on the defensive side of the football. We have nothing but the utmost respect for him. But he is under contract."

The Cowboys struggled to rush the passer last year, and with Greg Hardy suspended for the first four games, Mincey could see this as an opportunity to force Dallas's hand. However, the Cowboys don't seem to be concerned at the moment.
