Los Angeles Clippers power forward Blake Griffin will participate in next month's USA Basketball minicamp in Las Vegas and intends to play on the 2016 Olympic team in Rio de Janeiro, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.
Until now, fate has conspired to keep Griffin from representing his country at the summer games.
Griffin had to skip last year's Team USA training camp for the FIBA World Cup because of a back injury. Two years earlier, he had to withdraw from the 2012 London Olympic team after stepping on John Wall's foot during a workout and tearing the meniscus in his left knee.
It was reported Friday that Carmelo Anthony will also attend the minicamp, but not fully participate due to recovery from knee surgery.
