Despite rehabbing a torn patellar tendon, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony is looking to suit up for his country.

Anthony will be in attendance at Team USA minicamp from Aug. 11 to 13, according to the New York Post's Marc Berman. Since he is rehabbing, Anthony will not be a fully active participant.

The prognosis for Anthony's knee injury called for the star forward to miss four to six months, following season-ending surgery Feb. 19, shortly after the 2015 All-Star Game.

Team USA will hold practices on Aug. 11 and 12, before playing an inter-squad scrimmage Aug. 13. The camp will help president of USA Basketball Jerry Colangelo cull his roster for the upcoming 2016 Summer Olympics.

Anthony, who helped Team USA capture gold in 2008 and 2012, is not a lock to make the team, neither is he fully decided on suiting up. However, attending minicamp would demonstrate his commitment to the program.

Earlier this summer, Colangelo said on Sirius XM NBA Radio that injured players would have to attend minicamp in order to be in the consideration for the 2016 Olympic team.

Still, Anthony played a pivotal role in the last two Olympics. He played the role of small-ball four to great success, dominating opponents with a gifted mix of speed, shooting, and athleticism from the frontcourt.

Most memorably, Anthony set the U.S. men's team Olympic record by hanging 37 points against Nigeria in 2012. In that game, Anthony shot 10-of-12 from deep to help Team USA to a lopsided 156-73 victory.

The 31-year-old is in the second year of his five-year, $124-million pact with the Knicks. Anthony averaged 24.2 points and 6.6 rebounds across 40 games played in 2014-15.
