T.J. Oshie: Shipped to the Capitals

Oshie was traded to the Capitals on Thursday in exchange for forward Troy Brouwer, goalie Pheonix Copley, and a 2016 third-round draft pick, NHL.com reports.

Analysis:

With the Blues possessing ample young forward talent in their AHL ranks, the team decided to downsize and move Oshie to Washington while picking up some future assets. Though he'll leave one of the NHL's most productive attacks, Oshie should be in line to maintain his production in D.C., where he could have the luxury of playing next to Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom. The Capitals will have Oshie under contract for the next two seasons at a reasonable $4.175 million cap hit.
