Rangers' Gallardo extends MLB-leading shutout streak to 29 1/3 innings

Joe Camporeale / USA TODAY Sports

Texas Rangers right-hander Yovani Gallardo is pitching his way into the franchise record books with an organization that boasts alumni like Nolan Ryan, Ferguson Jenkins, and Kenny Rogers.

After tossing six scoreless innings against the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday, Gallardo extended his shutout innings streak to 29 1/3. The run is the longest in the majors this year and the fourth-longest in franchise history.

Acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers for a pair of prospects in January, Gallardo hasn't allowed a run since June 10 and hasn't issued a home run in 51 1/3 innings.

Date Opp IP H R SO
June 10 OAK 7 5 0 10
June 15 LAD 7 4 0 4
June 21 CHW 5 5 0 3
June 27 TOR 8.1 3 0 4
July 2 BAL 6 2 0 2

Gallardo has a way to go, though, if he wishes to eclipse Rogers' franchise record of 39 scoreless innings set in 1995.
