Flames sign Hamilton to multi-year deal

Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Calgary Flames signed defenseman Dougie Hamilton to a multi-year contract Tuesday.

Terms of the contract were not released, but TSN reported it to be six years for $34.5 million, with an average annual value of $5.75 million.

The Flames acquired Hamilton from the Boston Bruins on Friday in a trade for Calgary's first-round pick (No. 15) and two second-round picks (Nos. 45 and 52) at the 2015 NHL Draft.

The 22-year-old posted 10 goals and 32 assists over 72 games last season.

Hamilton was drafted ninth overall by the Bruins in 2011 and has recorded 22 goals and 83 points over 178 games spanning three seasons.
