Chad Billingsley to rejoin Phillies' rotation Thursday

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

Chad Billingsley is scheduled to return to the mound for the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday after missing roughly six weeks with a shoulder injury, reports MLB.com's Todd Zolecki.

Billingsley made three starts for the Phillies earlier this season, returning to the major leagues after missing two calendar years due to injury woes, but landed on the disabled list May 17 with a right shoulder strain. Before hurting his shoulder, the 30-year-old managed a 6.75 ERA (58 ERA+) with a 1.63 WHIP in over 16 innings.

In three rehab outings with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, the former MLB All-Star posted an unimpressive 5.06 ERA, allowing a pair of home runs while notching seven strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings.

Billingsley, who will start Thursday's series finale against the Milwaukee Brewers, owns a 3.69 ERA (109 ERA+) with a 1.37 WHIP over parts of nine major-league seasons.
