Report: Eagles to sign John Moffitt to 1-year deal
The Philadelphia Eagles are set to sign guard John Moffitt to a one-year deal, according to FOX Sports' Ross Jones.
Moffitt retired from football in November 2013, stating that he was unhappy and that it'd be unwise to risk his health for money. The 28-year-old went to rehab and overcame drug addiction after multiple incidents with the law.
However, it emerged that Moffitt was making a return to football on June 17, first reported by FOX Sports' Jay Glazer.
Moffitt was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Although he was traded to the Cleveland Browns in August 2013, the deal was rescinded due to a failed physical and he was shipped to the Denver Broncos the following day.
The Eagles are exploring many options at guard, after releasing star Evan Mathis on June 11, ostensibly due to a contract dispute.
