LSU's Anthony Jennings among 4 Tigers arrested Thursday, suspended from team

Three LSU football players - quarterback Anthony Jennings, defensive lineman Maquedius Bain, and defensive back Dwayne Thomas - were arrested by LSU police Thursday evening.

The news was first reported by The Advocate.

Thomas is being booked on charges of unauthorized entry and simple burglary. Arrest warrants were issued for Jennings and Bain on charges of unauthorized entry.

The three were arrested for their involvement in an incident Sunday in which they were among a group of males that entered a campus apartment to retrieve items said to have been stolen from Jennings' apartment. Several males destroyed the door frame and locks, entered the residence, and left with boxes of shoes and a Sony PlayStation. A witness identified Thomas as the person leaving the room with the items.

LSU head football coach Les Miles issued a statement regarding the three players, announcing they have been suspended from the team.

"We have suspended these players," Miles said. "It has been our policy to suspend players who have been involved with legal issues. I have met with all three players involved extensively. We are still working with campus housing and the authorities to determine what exactly took place. This is an on-going investigation and our players will cooperate fully."

The report comes just hours after the news that Tigers defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafao was arrested on charges of simple battery and simple robbery stemming from what appears to be a separate incident.

Jennings served as LSU's starting quarterback last season and was expected to compete with sophomore Brandon Harris for the starting gig this season.
