MLS Game Summary - Colorado at Real Salt Lake

Sandy, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Real Salt Lake and the Colorado Rapids played to a 0-0 tie on Sunday night in the first match up of the Rocky Mountain Cup at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Colorado will have a bit of revenge on its mind after the team lost all three meetings with RSL last season, allowing Salt Lake to lay claim to the Rocky Mountain Cup with ease.

In the first half the game became very chippy as the teams combined for 20 fouls. Real Salt Lake had the better of the play. Alvaro Saborio had the best chance of the opening half when he sent a header on a corner kick just over the cross-bar in the 13th minute.

The Rapids best chance in the first half came in the 43rd minute. Gabriel Torres took a right footed shot from outside the box just sailed over the goal as the teams took a 0-0 game into the half.

In the second half the field opened up a bit for both teams. Sam Cronin with arguably the best chance of the night for the Rapids as he volleys a shot on frame but hit it right into Real keeper Nick Rimando in the 54th minute.

The last chance of the night came as Aaron Maund conceded a foul in the box on Luis Solignac. Dillon Powers stepped up to take the kick and pushed the shot just wide of the net as the game ended in a 0-0 tie.
