Report: Kings GM D'Alessandro a candidate for St. John's AD job
Less than two years after landing a general manager job with the Sacramento Kings - his first GM gig in the NBA - Pete D'Alessandro has already become somewhat of a lame duck.
That's because former King Vlade Divac has since taken on a role as vice president of basketball and franchise operations - a position the team's owner confirmed includes all basketball decision-making power - while coaching legend George Karl is running things on the floor.
It might be wise, then, for D'Alessandro to look for more autonomous positions outside of Sacramento, and his alma matter may have just the role he's looking for.
Sources: Sacramento Kings GM Pete D'Alessandro - who lost authority to Vlade Divac - will be a significant candidate for St. John's AD job.

Basketball Hall of Famer Chris Mullin, who worked on the Kings' executive team with D'Alessandro, recently left Sacramento to take the head-coaching job at St. John's, which now has an athletic director vacancy to fill.
