Edgar following UFC Fight Night 66: 'I think I'm the next title contender'
UFC Fight Night 66 was hailed a success, not only for the UFC or the Philippines, but for Frankie Edgar, as well.
Edgar won his main card featherweight bout Saturday against veteran Urijah Faber by unanimous decision.
Following the fight, Edgar made a case for himself deserving a shot at the title against either one of Jose Aldo or Conor McGregor. Aldo is set to defend his featherweight championship from McGregor at UFC 189 in July.
"I just beat one of the best guys that does our sport. I was able to beat him five rounds to nothing, close him out, and I think I’m the next title contender,” Edgar said.
The highly-anticipated fight between Aldo and the electrifying McGregor will be a raucous bout, already believed to spur a potential rematch. Edgar thinks he should get a chance at whoever wins, instead.
"I think it’s going to happen. So we’ll see. Maybe McGregor wins and I’ll fight him right away. No matter who wins, I want them next.”
Edgar wants the opportunity so badly, he even called out UFC president Dana White.
Edgar: I want that title now. I know Dana isn’t here again. I don’t know if he’s ducking me, because he owes me a title shot.

Edgar is currently ranked No. 2 on the UFC's featherweight rankings.
