Three days after being eliminated by the Minnesota Wild, the St. Louis Blues are already looking towards the future.

During the team's final press conference of the season, general manager Doug Armstrong stated the importance of re-signing budding superstar Vladimir Tarasenko.

"He's the priority for us," Armstrong told reporters Tuesday. He added that he would match any offer sheet made for Tarasenko.

Tarasenko will be a restricted free agent this summer and after having a cap hit of just $1.75 million, the 23-year-old will no doubt receive a steep pay increase.

Armstrong also revealed that he approached Tarasenko's reps during training camp and mid-season about signing an extension, but that they wanted to wait until the end of the season.

Tarasenko led the Blues in scoring during the regular season with 37 goals and 73 points in 77 games.
